PAINT FOR PEACE

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.  Paint For Peace  is an art show sponsored by the Crisis Shelter of Lawrence County.  The art show will be the theme of the annual Domestic Violence Rally to be held at the Scottish Rite Cathedral on East Lincoln Avenue, New Castle, PA, on October 27th at 5:00 PM  

Students and community members are asked to enter an original artwork piece which can include paintings, photographs or ceramics/pottery depicting a domestic violence awareness theme.  Registration forms are due by September 30th and the deadline for artwork submission is October 7th to the Crisis Shelter, 1218 West State Street, New Castle, PA. Twelve finalists will have their piece included in a 2012 calendar to be published by the Crisis Shelter. Three top winners will receive gift card prizes.

 Businesses are invited to enter a PAINT FOR PEACE window display contest. Businesses are asked to decorate a window using a domestic violence awareness theme.  Registration forms are due by September 23rd and we are asking that windows be decorated by October 3. The winner will receive 4 tickets to the Crisis Shelter annual auction and advertising in all Shelter event programs for one year.

The Crisis Shelter of Lawrence County acts as the community’s response to violence and abuse, offering comprehensive services to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and other serious crimes, as well as prevention education.
