NHCO winter coat drive is underway
North Hills Community Outreach is collecting new and gently used winter coats for local families in need through October 24. All sizes are appreciated; children’s and adult XL and XXL are especially needed. Coats should be clean and have working zippers. Donations can be dropped off at NHCO Allison Park, 1975 Ferguson Road, Hampton, Monday – Friday, 9am-4pm, through October 24, or in the NHCO Allison Park food pantry during special donation hours, 9:00 a.m. to noon, Saturday, September 27. Free legal consultation for families in need is available at North Hills Community Outreach locations one Wednesday of each month. All sessions are at 7:00pm. NHCO Volunteer Needs and Orientation Sessions
North Hills Community Outreach’s North Boroughs office in Bellevue needs receptionists Monday mornings and afternoons, and NHCO’s Free Rides for Seniors shuttle needs volunteer drivers and on-board dispatchers weekdays in the lower Freeport Road area. These are just two of the many opportunities available! The next NHCO Volunteer Orientation session is 10 a.m., October 9 in NHCO Hampton. Community Auto Seeks Car Detailing Donations
Community Auto , a program of North Hills Community Outreach serving the Greater Pittsburgh region, needs donations of new or used car cleaning supplies so that volunteers can provide clean, detailed vehicles to working individuals who purchase vehicles to get to work.
The following items are needed: garden hose and a spray nozzle, buckets, canister vacuum (with blow) including attachments, large sponges, car wash brushes, rags and towels (especially microfiber), chamois, car wax (like Turtle Wax), upholstery cleaner, car wash soap (like Rain-X or Armor All), vinyl protectant (like Armor All Original), leather protectant (like Armor All Leather Care), industrial glass cleaner (like 3m or Armor All) and windshield washer fluid.
Donations are tax deductible and can be dropped off 9:00 am-4:00 pm weekdays at Community Auto, 11490 Perry Highway, Wexford, PA 15090 or at any NHCO office, including the main office at 1975 Ferguson Road, Hampton. Community Auto, a unique car donation program serving low-income families in the Greater Pittsburgh region, accepts vehicles in any condition. Cars are repaired and sold at low cost to low-income families who need a vehicle to get to work. Cars that can’t be repaired are sold at auction.
