Who Rescued Who?

We’re sure that you have seen the car magnets and stickers that ask, “Who Rescued Who?” As we continue to receive updates and photos of our adoption success stories, we often see that not only was the animal rescued, but their human companion. In the case of Pink, not only did she rescue her family, but the family kitty. Pink had been at Animal Protectors for almost an entire year before finding her forever family. Even though she had a long wait, it looks like the wait was well worth it! Check out Pink’s story, as told by her adopter, Sari White….

“We have an unexpected change for the good since Pink arrived. We have a six pound Tortie named Faith who we adopted 2 years ago at Christmas. Faith was an only cat with an elderly man and had never been around other cats. When he passed, we answered an email plea and adopted her. She has basically lived on the bed, afraid of everything, only venturing downstairs on the very rarest of occasions. She loves to play, but only on the bed and only with me. Enter Pink. We adopted Pink from the shelter about two months ago. Pink is the first cat in the house that Faith didn’t hiss and run from – they have had zero arguments. Tonight, I was in the bathroom, where all of us pet owners know there is no privacy, and Pink came in, followed by her “boyfriend” Norman. Next thing I know, a little paw is swatting Norman on the behind from around the edge of the door. Suddenly a tiny head pops in… it’s Faith!! She even rolled on her side and tried to get one of them to play with both of her front paws. Before Pink, Faith would have growled and ran from the room. I’ve never seen her play with any of the other kids….ever.

For some crazy reason, since Pink became a family member, Faith feels safe in the house for the first time in her life. I am SO, SO thankful for Pink. I have been praying for so long that Faith would finally, finally feel at home with us, and now she does. Way to go Pinkie!!! Who knew Pink would be a cat rescuer, too?

Thank you, Sari, for sharing your touching “tail” about the unconditional love and friendship a    shelter animal may provide to the entire family.
