Ways to Help Children in Crisis

Distraction is Important Recently Jameson’s Army did its monthly drop to the heart center at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. It was another great day of helping those families that can use a smile.  We also had the privilege of talking to Child Life and finding some new and inventive ways to help the families. Here are some of the items we came up with:

  • Used/New/Burned DVD’s (Disney is a HUGE success)
  • Used/New portable DVD players
  • Used/New PlayStation systems/X box/Wii
  • Used/New PlayStation systems/ X Box / Will games
  • New gender -?neutral 0-?3 month button down sleepers

Distraction is such a key to helping the heart patients through their procedures. We have seen this first-hand when Jameson uses an iPad and/or DVD player during blood draws and pokes. Older patients can enjoy playing Wii/Xbox while waiting to head to the Cath lab/OR. It’s such a great distraction to what is actually taking place. If you are interested in donating any of these items or similar items please email or call 412-867-7565.
