UPMC Celebration of Lights Benefits the Woodlands

For the first time in 20 years, a popular holiday tradition will benefit the Woodlands Foundation. UPMC, in partnership with Allegheny County, is sponsoring the annual Celebration of Lights at Hartwood, and has added the Woodlands to the local charities that benefit from the proceeds.

The Woodlands is a non-profit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of children and young adults with disability and chronic illness. The Woodlands’ 32-acre site is located in the North Hills of Pittsburgh.

“We are thrilled to be one of the beneficiaries of this great holiday event, and thankful to UPMC for including us,” said Peter Clakeley, the Woodlands’ Executive Director. “We imagine great possibilities for this funding, and plan to use it to augment our existing programs, potentially with the involvement of UPMC’s fine medical staff.”

The spectacular holiday light show is open every night from now through January 8. For a donation, people can drive through the hundreds of light displays featuring more than 2 million lights. The suggested donations are: $12 per car; for buses, $3 per person from non-profit organizations, and $5 per person from for-profit organizations.
