The Franklin Center Reenacts Freedom March in Celebration of Black History Month

Civil Rights for all, that’s something to celebrate!
Did you ever hear about Juliette Hampton Morgan; she went from being a Socialite to Social Activist.  On the surface, she appeared to be the definitive Southern belle.  But she, like many others, was part of the American Civil Rights Movement, the movement of the people.
The movement of the people, what a grand thought. This is what we hope you will join the Franklin Center of Beaver County, Inc. on Saturday, February 27, 2016. That is the day we will come together to reenact a freedom march, a movement of people. It is a time for ordinary people to came together across differences to advance this nation’s core value of equality and the end of discrimination.
A  prelude to the main event will be a symbolic march across the New Brighton /Beaver Falls bridge beginning at 9 A.M and will join the official start of the march at Towsend Park, 610 Third Avenue, 6th Street at 9:30.  Coffee and hot chocolate will be provided by Hallowed Grounds of New Brighton. At 10 A.M. the New Brighton police will provide escort down 3rd Avenue to the Historic Wayman Chapel A.M.E. Church  at 1120 6th Avenue, New Brighton where Rev. Tawan Bailey, pastor of the Historic Wayman A.M.E. Church, will deliver a message of freedom and peace.  Refreshments in the fellowship hall thanks to the church family.
