Support Focus On Renewal at the Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community

Focus On Renewal (FOR) is one of 75 organizations participating in the Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community. This annual fundraiser is underwritten by Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield so that 100 percent of the funds raised go to the participating western Pennsylvania nonprofits.

The 2015 Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community will be held Saturday, May 16 at Stage AE on the North Shore. Walk registration is at 7:45 a.m. The 5K walk begins at 9 a.m. while the one-mile fun walk starts at 9:15 a.m. After the walk, Highmark provides refreshments, prizes, activities and live entertainment for the participants.

FOR Executive Director Greg Quinlan said, “We’re proud to participate in the Highmark Walk again this year. This fun family event raises critical funds for our work in the Sto-Rox community. Last year we brought in a record-breaking $6,106. We hope to increase that amount this year.”

There is no registration fee; however, walkers are encouraged to raise funds for an organization of their choice. Online registration is available at www.forstorox.org for the 5K or One-Mile Fun Walk.

About the Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community

The primary goal of the walk is to help participating organizations raise money for their individual missions. The secondary goal of the walk is to energize participants to have a greater hand in their own health. The Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community provides an outlet for active individuals to continue their exercise routines and provides motivation to encourage inactive individuals to become more physically active.
