Women need to take time for themselves. Most women wear multiple hats: taking care of families, working, volunteering for church and civic groups, and giving back to their local communities. Penn State Cooperative Extension is pleased to offer the “Strong Women” program designed to teach, support, and encourage women to live healthy and active lifestyles.
The Strong Women program will be offered in two Beaver County locations – Bradys Run Park, 526 Bradys Run Road, Beaver Falls and the Center at the Mall at the Beaver Valley Mall (near Sears) . Free informational sessions will be conducted at the Center at the Mall site on September 6th at 4:45 pm and at the Beaver Falls site on September 8th at 5 pm. Classes will be conducted in both locations every Tuesday and Thursday starting September 13th. The investment for this program is $95 or two installments of $50 for the twelve week program.
The Strong Women program is designed to help individuals make appropriate lifestyle changes to live long healthy lives. It is affordable, fun, and low-cost. The program focuses on strength training, nutrition, and exercise in a class setting. Individuals are educated on the effects of diet and exercise on bone health and bone mass to prevent the onset of osteoporosis. Individuals who participate experience increased muscle mass, increased strength, and improved bone density. Pre-registration is required prior to the first class.
