‘Start Something Summer Series’ is Underway With Big Brothers Big Sisters

First, we want to send a big congratulations and thank you to the Dick’s Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon runners who participated in “Run for Kids Sake 2011!” Our team of 40 runners did an excellent job and successfully raised $12,500 for our one to one mentoring programs. We wanted to commemorate the Dick’s Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon staff for a great event and weekend. Again, thanks to our runners and all those individuals who supported them, we depend on individuals like you to help our children have a brighter future.

Please mark your calendars for another set of events, our annual Start Something Summer Series! We will be partnering with  great organizations at various locations around Pittsburgh area all summer long. Through the Start Something Summer Series, we spend time with old friends and meet new ones too! If you are going to go out after work, why not go to an event where you will learn about organizations doing beneficial work around the city? All the events take place from 5:30 – 7:30 pm and the schedule is:

  • Meet Coro Pittsburgh and Big Brothers Big Sisters at Houlihan’s (125 West Station Square Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15219) on Wednesday, June 29th.
  • Next, on Wednesday, July 27th, the Young Preservationist Association will meet us at Six Penn Kitchen (146 6th Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15222).
  • Our final stop of the summer will be on Tuesday, August 30th at Hough’s (563 Greenfield Avenue Pittsburgh, PA 15207). BBBS is proudly partnering with Cystic Fibrosis!

If you are interested in working with Big Brothers Big Sisters, or want to learn more about us, please come to one of these events for good food, a great time, and to Start Something positive for a child facing adversity.
