Retired and Senior Volunteer Program of Beaver County and the Beaver Valley Mall Remembers 911
The 9/11 Day of Service and Remembrance is about turning tragedy into triumph. Americans will never forget the attacks on our country 10 years ago. On this anniversary RSVP the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program of Beaver County and the Beaver Valley Mall will honor the memories of those lost in the tragedy, their families, America’s servicemen and women who voluntarily engaged in charitable service and the emergency preparedness persons or anyone who did good deeds on that day.
September 11, 2011 should be remembered as it has affected everyone in this nation. What were you doing on that fateful day? Would you be ready if an emergency were to affect you personally? Research on preparedness shows that people who believe themselves “prepared” for disasters often aren’t as prepared as they think. They do not have a household plan; they have not conducted home evacuation drills and do not know their community’s evacuation routes. RSVP and the Beaver Valley Mall plan to jump start those in our community by having an informational table near the water fountain from 11-1 p.m. on Sunday 9/11, of related pertinent safety materials along with a small version of a Disaster Supplies Kit until gone. There will be limited supplies of materials and kits. The kits, assembled by RSVP volunteers, community service persons, our CIC board members and inserts and pass outs were contributed by our RSVP sites will serve as a kick start to our community to begin at home with a plan of action in case of an emergency.
