Poverty Simulation Reveals Challenges of Low Income Families

We cannot afford to be insensitive to the people we serve.

On Friday, October 31, 2014, from 9:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m., a poverty simulation experience presented by Aliquippa Weed and Seed in conjunction with the Franklin Center of Beaver County’s Disproportionate Minority Contact Project, will be held in the lower level of The Church In The Round in Aliquippa. The simulation experience is designed to help participants begin to understand what it might be like to live in a typical low-income family trying to survive from month to month. This is a simulation, not a game. The object is to sensitize participants to the realities faced by low-income people. In the simulation, participants assume the roles of families facing poverty. The task of the “families” is to provide for basic necessities and shelter during the course of four 15-minute “weeks”.

Check-in is from 8:30 a.m. – 8:50 a.m. Seating is limited so please reserve a spot for you and your organization as soon as possible. Participation is FREE. We look forward to seeing you on October 31st
