“It’s the most wonderful time of the year”according to some old song, but for some people Christmas can be painful and difficult. Maybe they have been grieving the death of a loved one or dealing with a serious illness. Maybe they are struggling with unemployment or looming foreclosure. For some, the worst has already happened and they are homeless.
Located in Clairton, Sisters Place has helped more than 200 families from homelessness into independent living. Our mission is to assist families toward self-sufficiency by providing housing and supportive services. Sisters Place specializes in filling the gaps that exist in addressing our residents’ needs: mental health care, life skills training, career development, substance abuse recovery and housing placement assistance when the family is ready to move on. We are proud that our programs help these families break the cycle of poverty and homelessness and rebuild their lives to achieve self-sufficiency. This year, Sisters Place added five new families to our housing program bringing the number of families served to 32. The need is great for housing and we are grateful to be able to help so many.
