Pittsburgh Cares Now Accepting 2013-14 Applications for HandsOn Tech VISTA

Pittsburgh Cares is now accepting 2013-14 term applications for HandsOn Tech VISTA, an AmeriCorps VISTA program in partnership with Google and the HandsOn Network.

HandsOn Tech’s mission is to develop technological capacity within the nonprofit sector, allowing organizations to better address community need. VISTAs also work closely with the local Google office to coordinate nonprofit trainings, assess current nonprofit technology use, and mobilize skills-based volunteers. Applicants should have some familiarity with cloud-based technology and various social media platforms, but an extensive tech background is not required.

Important Dates

Tech VISTA members are scheduled to begin their placement at the end of August, 2013 and end on August 25, 2014. Applications must be received by Thursday, July 4, 2013.

Benefits

VISTA members will receive a biweekly living allowance, health insurance and an education award upon completion of a successful term of service. Members are also eligible for child care assistance and student loan forbearance or deferment.

HandsOn Tech VISTA members will receive training in the early fall at Google headquarters in Mountain View, CA that will focus on applying technology solutions in the nonprofit sector.

This is a full-time service position, averaging 40 hours per week.
