North Hills Community Outreach Receives Surprise Gift

North Hills Community Outreach received a surprise $10,000 gift just before the holidays, thanks to Shaler Township Manager Tim Rogers and HDH Group, a professional services firm.

HDH put out the word to its clients, including Shaler Township, that instead of celebrating its 30th anniversary with a party, it would donate $30,000 to client-nominated charities. Clients nominated more than 50 charities; HDH chose 12 of those and delivered checks ranging from $500 to $10,000. Tim Rogers, manager of Shaler Township, nominated North Hills Community Outreach. The faith-and community-based organization received the largest check, $10,000. North Hills Community Outreach, with five offices in northern Allegheny County, served 6,083 struggling families in hardship and crisis last year, providing more than 20 programs ranging from emergency food and utility help to family savings accounts and employment services.
