National Memory Screening Day is November 15th

Are you concerned about memory loss or know someone who is?  Tuesday, November 15th is National Memory Screening Day Homemaker-Home Health Aide Service of Beaver County, Inc. will provide free, confidential memory screenings at its office located at 376 Market Street, Beaver.  Screenings will be held from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM by appointment by calling 724-774-4002.

Qualified healthcare professionals administer the screenings  consisting  of a series of questions and tasks that take five to ten minutes.  A memory screening is the first step toward proper diagnosis and treatment.  It is not used to diagnose any particular illness and does not replace consultation with a physician or other qualified healthcare professionals.

National Memory Screening Day is an initiative of the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, AFA.  Warning signs of dementia include forgetting people’s names and events, asking repetitive questions, loss of verbal or written skills, confusion over daily routines and erratic mood swings. The national organization urges anyone concerned about memory changes or who wants to check their memory now and for future comparison to get screened.
