Golf Outing Helps Children with Congenital Heart Disorder

My name is Danielle McKain and I am the mother of a child with a congenital heart defect from the Pittsburgh, PA area. On September 27, 2010 my son Jameson was born with hypo plastic left heart syndrome. After four open heart surgeries, my husband and I, with the help of Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh (CHP), had to place Jameson on the heart transplant list. Luckily, just before his first birthday, he received a new heart and a new chance at life.

With strong support from family, friends, neighbors, community members, even strangers, I, along with a group of individuals touched by Jameson’s story, created Jameson’s Army, a non-profit organization. Our mission is “Raising awareness and funding for children and families affected by congenital heart disorder (CHD) and those who help support them.” 1 in 100 babies are born with some type of heart disorder and though many go on to live healthy normal lives, unfortunately many do not. We not only want to spread awareness and education concerning CHD but we want to help these children to grow and live the lives they deserve. Along with spreading awareness Jameson’s Army contributes a food and needs drop once a month to the children and families staying at the heart center of CHP, The Children’s Home of Pittsburgh as well as provide therapeutic heart cough pillows used for the recovery process of open heart surgery. We also dedicate our resources to local community organizations.

Jameson’s Army will be holding its 2nd Annual “Golfing FORE little Hearts” on 9/6/2014 at Quicksilver Golf Course. Money raised will help purchase medical rocking chairs for the infants and their families as well as continuing our monthly food drops and therapeutic heart pillows at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. Please consider making a donation for this this event. With your donation we will continue our mission in making a difference for the families affected by CHD. You can donate items for our raffle, take home gifts for our guests, or select a sponsorship for the golf outing. It would mean so much to my entire family to have representation from your organization there!

I ask that you take a look at our website www.jamesonsarmy.org or “like” us on Facebook for more informationon our non-profit organization and what we do!
