2nd Annual Get Fired Up! Become a Male Role Model

Our summer intern, Jimmy Machin, is planning the 2nd Annual Get Fired Up! Become a Male Role Model event featuring former Pitt standout Wide Receiver and NFL player Chris Curd. The event will take place Wednesday, July 13th from 4PM to 8PM at the Camp David Lawrence Shelter on Overlook Drive in Schenley Park. Start Something with us by attending the event and bringing your male friends with you! Please email Jimmy at with your RSVPs by July 8th.
We are in need of mentors NOW. Please follow this link,, to learn what it takes to Start Something as a mentor and is a link you can follow to refer a friend.  Also, always feel free to e-introduce anyone who you think would be a good fit as a mentor to Tom Baker, our Vice President of Programs, at He will then help educate them on the process and hopefully help them start the process of becoming a Big.

Start Something Summer Series is in Full Swing!

The first stop of the Start Something Summer Series at Buffalo Blues on May 31st was a phenomenal success with more than 50 individuals in attendance from our partnering organizations Young Republicans and Young Democrats of Allegheny County. Our guest speakers, Representative Jesse White and Councilman Matt Drozd, motivated everyone present to Start Something through mentoring and shared very positive messages.

Our friends at Coro Pittsburgh joined us for the second stop of the Start Something Summer Series on June 29th at Houlihan’s.  It was another great evening, with good conversation and good friends.  Thank you to Councilman Bill Peduto for joining us for the evening!

Please join us for the next stop in the series with the Young Preservationist Association on July 27th at Six Penn Kitchen.

Thank you to our friends at ROOT SPORTS for embracing our Start Something, message, sponsoring the series, and underwriting the cost of goodies for our guests. Thank you again for your generosity!
