Free Tax Prep for Low Income Among Services Offered at NHCO

North Hills Community Outreach will host a Volunteer Orientation session 10 am, Thursday, March 12, in NHCO Millvale, 416 Lincoln Avenue. Some volunteer needs include drivers to pick up pantry donations, drivers for Free Rides for Seniors Shuttles, and much more. Please contact Patti at pmferraro@nhco.org or 412-408-3830 to register.

NHCO Requests Spring Share Donations

North Hills Community Outreach is collecting baskets, basket covers, plastic grass, candy, granola bars, juice boxes, new small toys and new small stuffed animals for Spring Share, an NHCO sharing project that will help approximately 300 local families in hardship. Donations are accepted through March 25 weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on a special donation Saturday, March 7 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at NHCO, 1975 Ferguson Road, in Allison Park. Enjoy global street cuisine, live entertainment, silent auction and family fun at a neighborhood indoor/outdoor Street Fair at The Chadwick in Wexford, 5:30-9:00 pm, Thursday, April 30. The Chadwick celebrates its 20thanniversary and NHCO will benefit from the proceeds. Tickets are $30 for adults, $20 for children. NHCO’s 14th Annual Mini-Masters Mini Golf Tournament

Enjoy a round of mini golf, delicious buffet dinner, silent auction and prizes Thursday, May 14 at RMU’s Island Sports Complex on Neville Island! NHCO offers free tax prep for low-income individuals

North Hills Community Outreach will offer free tax preparation through March 31 at its sites in Bellevue and Millvale for low-income individuals as part of the United Way Money in Your Pocket coalition.

Appointments in the NHCO North Boroughs location, AGH-Suburban Campus, 100 S. Jackson Ave., Bellevue, are available Mondays and Tuesdays from 4:30 – 7:30pm.

Appointments in the NHCO Millvale location, 416 Lincoln Ave., are available Saturdays only from 9:00 am to noon.

Appointments must be made by calling United Way helpline 2-1-1 or 888-553-5778.

WorkAble employment workshops and more for jobseekers

WorkAble, a countywide United Way-funded program of North Hills Community Outreach, South Hills Interfaith Ministries, and Jewish Family & Children’s Services, offers free employment skills workshops, one-on-one volunteer career mentoring, professional career counseling, computer lab access, career fairs and much more. WorkAble assists underemployed and unemployed job seekers throughout Allegheny County.

The following workshop is available in NHCO Millvale, 416 Lincoln Avenue:

9:30-noon, March 19, Igniting your Job Search and WorkAble orientation,.

The following workshops are available in NHCO North Boroughs in Bellevue, inside the AGH-Suburban Campus:

9:30-12:30, March 10, Interviewing Workshop and WorkAble Orientation;

9:30-12:30, March 24, Job Search Strategies Workshop and WorkAble Orientation.

Ask the Attorney sessions for low-income families

Free legal consultation is available for families in need at North Hills Community Outreach locations the second Wednesday of each month at 7pm. Upcoming ATA sessions are: NHCO Bellevue March 11;  NHCO Allison Park April 8. Attendees MUST preregister for these sessions by contacting Harriet at hzgibbs@nhco.org or 412-408-3830.
