Franklin Center to Celebrate 30 Years of Providing Outreach and Referral Services to Beaver County

In 1984 big industry was fading away, anxiety was high and people were moving away from Beaver County. Then a ray of hope began to shine brightly from Franklin Avenue in Aliquippa. The original name was the Aliquippa Alliance for Unity and Development (AAUD). It is now known as The Franklin Center of Beaver County, Inc. and has grown to serve the entire county as well as the surrounding area.

This is the Franklin Center’s 30th anniversary of providing outreach and referral services to the area. In celebration, the Franklin Center has chosen to recognize just a few of the many people in the area who stand beside us to serve this community. Bryan Fullum, Rebecca Matsco, Rebecca Ficca-Salopek, Eugene “Salt” Smith, Dr. Melvin Steals, and Nicholas Tisak will be recognized for their commitment to the residents of Beaver County.

In addition, four students will be recognized for their outstanding success as a result, in part, of their participation in the Franklin Center’s education and mentoring programs. They are Jesse Council, Joziah Council, Amber Liggett and Taja Finley.

James H. Carter, M.S. will provide the keynote address. Mr. Carter has dedicated his life to the development of youth and was a founding member of the board of directors for this organization.
