Focus on Renewal Celebrates 45 Years

On Saturday, October 11, Focus On Renewal (FOR) will celebrate its 45th anniversary with a special event at the Father Ryan Arts Center, 420 Chartiers Avenue, McKees Rocks.

Taris Vrcek, Executive Director of the McKees Rocks CDC, will be honored for his non-stop efforts to revitalize the Sto-Rox community. Honorary chairman is Charles Peterson, Community Development Officer at First Niagara.

“Taris’ ambitious vision, personal sacrifice and dogged pursuit of a better Sto-Rox inspired us to thank him with this honor,” said Focus On Renewal Executive Director Greg Quinlan.

The gala will begin at 6 p.m. with a $125.00 VIP reception. The theme is “A Taste of Sto-Rox” and will feature homestyle favorites, such as pierogies, haluski, ravioli, chicken and more.

The main celebration will begin at 7:30 p.m. To commemorate FOR’s 45th year, individual tickets are only $45.00. A slide show honoring Taris will be held in the Baverso Theater, with a silent auction in the Art Gallery. Families from each of FOR’s programs will contribute to a unique thank you gift for each couple that attends.

Proceeds will benefit all of Focus On Renewal programs. Sponsors of this fundraiser are First Niagara Bank, FedEx, UPMC Health Plan, Ohio Valley Hospital, Highmark, Dollar Bank, The Lane Construction Company, TriState Capital, BNY Mellon, Bridgeway Capital, Sewickley Savings Bank, 5 Generation Bakers, Congressman Mike Doyle, The Palmer Westport Group and the Sisters of St. Joseph at Baden.
