Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens will take guests on a culinary journey around the globe on Thurs., Oct. 27, at its annual Wines Under Glass Gala. Visitors to this elegant event can experience the flavors of the continents and revel in an evening of delicious wines and festive live entertainment. The V.I.P reception begins at 6:30 p.m., and the celebration continues with the Global Party at 7:30 p.m.
Phipps’ Fall Flower Show: Bask in Nature’s Bounty will be in full flourish, filling each room with gorgeous mums and iconic fall fixtures that will give guests a warm feeling of autumn nostalgia. The adventure begins in the Palm Court, which will resemble the stunning streets of Spain. The South Conservatory will be transformed into a classic Italian setting, and it also houses Phipps’ charming Garden Railroad: 200 Years of Pittsburgh.
Then, travel to the Serpentine Room’s Napa Valley and delight in the savory libations of the West Coast, and wander into the Conservatory’s East Wing, where you will enter the serenity of a traditional Japanese garden. Authentic sake can be sampled in the Special Events Hall.
Strolling through the event, guests will make their way to the final destination of the evening – the heart of the African Congo. Phipps’ Tropical Forest Congo exhibit will offer a delectable selection of regional wines and foods, plus lively entertainment for all to enjoy.
