Celebrate Student Creativity

RSVP to help us select the cover of our 2015 Report to the Community.

Did you know four of the nine school board members are running in the primary election that’s taking place on May 19th? Since there are four school board seats up, I thought I’d let you know about four things you can do between now and the election to support A+ Schools and improve public education.

  1. Join us April 23rd: Come celebrate student artists, help us select the cover of our next Report to the Community on Public School Progress in Pittsburgh, and help us raise the funds we need to produce and distribute this invaluable report. And if your child is a Pittsburgh Public Schools’ student or Pittsburgh charter student, s/he can still submit art to our cover art contest. Learn more.
  2. Volunteer to talk to voters about the importance of school board elections. In the past, voter turnout for school board primary elections has been anemic. Let’s change that. You can host a house party, canvass or phone bank voters, or help spread the word about upcoming candidate forums. We want Pittsburgh to make an informed decision about the most important elective office in our City, School Board Director. Learn more.
  3. Meet the Pennsylvania Secretary of Education on April 6. We are co-sponsoring a public meeting with the Office of Representative Ed Gainey to talk about Homewood Schools and meet with Secretary Rivera. Learn more.
  4. Attend our Citywide Candidate Forum on May 6. Be a part of the debate by joining us on May 6 to hear from the candidates about their vision for the future of our schools. Learn more.
