Blow Your Diet and Help Support Programs for Children With Disabilities!
The Woodlands Foundation is once again offering a really tasty way to blow your diet for a worthy cause. Our volunteers are busy baking holiday rum and apricot brandy cakes to help support programs for children with disabilities. This is not diet food, folks. The cakes are loaded with butter and drenched in a rum or brandy sauce that not only makes them taste heavenly, but also helps to conveniently preserve them through the holiday season.
Under the direction of retired pediatric surgeon and Woodlands volunteer extraordinaire, Dr. Kamthorn Sukarochana, teams of volunteers from organizations like FedEx Ground help prepare the 6” and 8” cakes. Both varieties have nuts, but we can leave the nuts out if requested.
To have your cake and eat it too, contact the Woodlands at (724) 935-5470, Monday – Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Cost is $15 for a 6” cake and $20 for an 8” cake. Orders will be taken through December 11 and cakes can be picked up from the Woodlands in Bradford Woods on various dates. Shipping is also available.
The Woodlands is a nonprofit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of people with disability and chronic illness. Programs include year-round retreats, summer camps, conferences and various other enrichment activities for people with special needs and the organizations that serve them. With its adaptive and accessible facilities, Woodlands programs enable participants to experience social, cultural, environmental, recreational and spiritual growth. The profound power of the Woodlands is its ability to transform lives. To learn more, go to www.woodlandsfoundation.org.
