Santa for Sight
This year, in December, the doctors of Optometric Care and the Hopewell Township Lions Club provided free eye exams and glasses to the uninsured and underprivileged. Many of our neighbors were given the gift of vision thanks to the donation of time and money from both organizations.
MTI PhotoScreener
The MTI PhotoScreener is the world’s only portable, instant vision screening device that is designed to identify serious eye disorders in infants, toddlers and other difficult-to-screen children. The instrument is a patented, computerized camera that takes an instant photograph of the eyes. Measurements are taken with the click of a button, and interpretations are made on the spot. The PhotoScreener detects a wide range of visual disorders, including near-sightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, strabismus, and cataracts, that can lead to amblyopia later in life.
The Lions Club and the doctors of Optometric Care, Inc. regularly use the MTI PhotoScreener to screen children in the area, including those in surrounding preschools.

Beaver Valley Mall: Senior Screenings
To improve community health, our office has developed the “Day at the Mall” program. For this program, we work in conjunction with the Beaver County Office on Aging, which offers various medical screenings to area senior citizens. Not only do we perform free glaucoma screenings, but we believe in empowering the community to be better informed regarding their own health. Therefore, we provide education on dry eye, macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, cataracts and other related information. This proactive approach allows our community members to be advocates of their own health, with the goal of detecting eye disorders or conditions before the impacts are significant or irreversible.
Hopewell School Screenings
Dr. Wiggins and Dr. Depner are vision consultants for Hopewell Area Schools, performing the yearly elementary screenings and providing valuable information on proper eye wear and importance of comprehensive eye care.
