The Kelly Strayhorn Theater, a community performing arts center, is where the Alumni Theater Company (ATC) will perform an exciting and diverse assortment of monologues, scenes, poetry, dances, and original writing.  A wide range of topics and emotions will be explored – excellent insight into the mind of a teenager… for the braver theater-goer…

Read what Emily Swora,  says about this group.

DeVaughn Robinson has his ass.  Or so he sings.  Believe me; I was a bit shocked when I heard those words come out of Robinson’s belting mouth.  And then I remembered what I was like in high school.  Maybe I wasn’t as precocious or as daring as Robinson, but that three-letter word is certainly no stranger to anyone past the fifth grade.

Robinson, and the fifteen other cast members of the Alumni Theater Company (ATC) are talented, energetic, funny, and daring kids putting on three different productions over five nights in partnership with the Kelly-Strayhorn Theater.

They are sharing their dreams, hopes, and talents with each other and with themselves, while reminding even those of us who aren’t that far out of high school that being a kid is a time of challenge, of fun, of learning, and growth.

Hallie Donner is the director, and life, of ATC and has poured her heart and soul into it.  Here are some of Hallie’s own inspiring words:

alumni-ulcs-8-11-09-073crop“The growth of the skills and character of each of the company members has been astounding.  They are truly learning to live their lives as artists. . . They approach their work with discipline, open mindedness and a keen interest in all subject matter.  They are intelligent people developing into artists in order to use their talents to share the thoughts of their generation.”  These kids are bringing us their lives.
