Focus on Renewal was selected as a recipient of Books Across Pittsburgh, sponsored by Pittsburgh Cares, in conjunction with the National Tourism Association (NTA) and Tourism Cares. Boxes of books, book shelves and literacy-themed mural panels were delivered to Butterfly Garden Early Learning Center, Focus On Renewal’s child care center, by attendees of the National Tourism Association convention in Pittsburgh.
During the convention, the attendees sorted and wrapped the books, built and decorated the book cases, and painted the murals.
“We were overwhelmed by the boxes of books collected on our behalf,” said Father Regis J. Ryan, executive director of Focus On Renewal. “As soon as the volunteers brought in the boxes of books, they sat down on the floor and read to the children. It was a great day for literacy in McKees Rocks. ”
