no-year-logo CONTACT Beaver County wants to help you become a better listener.  That’s why they are offering the “Skills for Better Listening” Course. 

Improve your ability to relate more effectively with family, friends, and co-workers and equip yourself with the interpersonal skills, knowledge and self-awareness to respond to the expressed needs of the people you deal with in your everyday life. Skills for Better Listening is Act 48 approved, and will prepare you to become a Crisis Center Specialist with CONTACT Beaver Valley.

Contact Beaver Valley make the telephone a Lifeline for many in the Beaver County Area.  The Mission of CONTACT Beaver Valley is to respond to the needs of callers through listening, and referral to appropriate services, 24 hours a day – 365 days a year.  Their services include: 

  • Helpline and Information Referral Services that operates 24/7
  • Reassurance Program that makes outgoing calls to individuals that are elderly, isolated, living alone, shut in, or handicapped.
  • Homeless Helpline that operates 24/7
  • Provide access to the national 1-800-SUICIDE Helpline and 1-800-227-TALK Hopeline to the entire 724 area code which covers 12 counties in Southwestern Pennsylvania.
  • Participates in the Department of Veterans Affairs national suicide prevention hotline
  • Provides after hours answering service for the following agencies in Beaver County:
  • o The Prevention Project’s SAFE Gate Program
  • o Beaver County’s Low Income Energy Assistance Program
  • Offers “Skills for Better Listening” training for potential volunteers, and for the community to be used for personal growth and continuing education.

The residents of Beaver County depend on the free, anonymous, and confidential services provided by CONTACT Beaver Valley phone workers.  Please support them by getting the word out about their services.  You can also help by volunteering your time, making a cash donation, and supporting their fundraising activities.
