CHS

Community Human Services, located in South Oakland, will be hosting a fundraiser on May 15, 2009 to benefit its Youth Program’s summer camp. CHS’s summer camp serves youth from the South Oakland & Lower Hill neighborhoods. This camp is very special for a great group of kids! chs-summer-camp 72% of our kids are living in poverty, 58% live in single parent families, 30% are immigrants & learning English.

Our students, most of whom live in neighborhoods with a higher than average rate of violence incidents, are protected from violence and dangerous behaviors during the hours they spend in CHS’s summer camp program.  Students engage in academic activities, opportunities for artistic expression, physical/nutritional activities, and recreation.  They also go on field trips to broaden their horizons and encourage them to try new things.  All funds raised from this event will enable our low-income youth to attend camp this year.  Your support will be greatly appreciated!!

Our “Take Me Out to the Ball Game” fundraiser will be taking place on Friday, May 15, 2009.  Between 5-7pm, there will be a food, networking & a silent auction at Bubba’s UGLY on the Northside.  At 7:05 festivities will move to PNC Park to watch the Pirates v. Rockies.

Admission to the entire event is only $50, with all proceeds going to help our low-income kids attend summer camp.  RSVP is required: Contact Jessi March at jmarsh@chscorp.org or 412.621.4706
