Hundreds take to the streets of Pittsburgh in Their Underwear

On February 14, nearly 800 scantily clad runners will join with cities across the United States and Australia to raise awareness of Neurofiromatis (NF) and raise money for the Children’s Tumor Foundation (CTF) through Cupid’s Undie Run.  Sponsored by MeUndies and recognized as the world’s largest organized underwear run, the event requires participants to strip off the usual workday wear and show their support for research of NF …in just their undies.

“Kids with NF have to overcome challenges on a daily basis,” says Rachael Olbeter, Pittsburgh Race Director.  “This event puts people in an uncomfortable situation while putting some hilarity in charity.”

The race, being held at Buckhead Saloon, Station Square, kicks off a pre-race party noon.  The undie-clad runners will hit the streets and run a 1-mile course down Station Square Drive and across the Smithfield Street Bridge at 2:00 pm and return to the warmth of Buckhead Saloon for a celebration until 4:00 pm.  The party at Buckhead Saloon is a private event for participants, but spectators are welcome to line up along the route to view the race!

To date, Cupid’s Undie Run has donated nearly $5 million and is a nationally recognized 501(c)(3) non-profit, operated by dozens of volunteers throughout the country.   Pittsburgh’s event, now in it’s second year, has raised over $215,000, one of the highest fundraising totals amongst participating cities.
