Allegheny Family Network is realizing its commitment to expand its fathers support group titled “Fathers Involved Now”. AFN is excited about the fathers group focusing on the issues and concerns fathers face daily, as well as supporting a nurturing connection with their children.
Since joining the Allegheny Family Network staff in February, Family Support Partner Keith Blockton has been working to develop FIN which supports fathers who are rearing children with emotional and mental health needs. The program realizes that dads are a valuable part of the family and could benefit from the support of other fathers. The support group helps fathers in becoming better men, fathers, mentors, and husbands.
Fathers Involved Now also looks at the social aspects of being a father. They participated in the “Bring Your Dad to School Day” May 20th in the Pittsburgh Public Schools. In collaboration with the Providence Family Support Center, FIN sponsored a Father’s Day event on June 16th. Dads were honored with dinner and a special key note speaker, Rick Cobbs, Community Supervisor at Allegheny Family Network.
