Diabetes Awareness Day At Aliquippa Tyler Community Youth Center

Please join Tyler Youth Group, Inc. in collaboration with Heritage Valley Health System/Community Health Services, Silver Sneakers Fitness Program and the Sewickley Eye Group for the 2nd Annual Diabetes Awareness Day, Healthy Steps for Diabetes Prevention.  

The event takes place Saturday, July18, 2009 from 10:30 AM – 4:00 PM at the Aliquippa Tyler Community Youth Center at 60 Marietta Road, Aliquippa, PA  15001 

  • Admission is FREE to this event which will feature:
  • Professional speakers
  • Access to health care providers
  • Display table
  • Hands on activities  

You will learn how to recognize the risk factors for diabetes, choose nutritional food, fitness tips, diabetes prevention and services and much more. 

Lunch and nutritious snacks will be provided along with giveaways, door prizes, free raffle, and gift bags.

Celebrate How Fatherhood Impacts Healthy Family Structure

Fathers play an integral, irreplaceable role in their children’s lives.  Research has found that the absence of fathers in the home doubles the likelihood that sons will turn to crime, and that the tendency is not reversed even when a step-father enters the family.  Now is the time to promote fatherhood and a healthy family structure in our communities. 

 

Therefore, Aliquippa Weed and Seed and the Aliquippa Youth Collaborative Partnership in conjunction with the Franklin Center of Beaver County, invite you to attend a kick-off event of the Franklin Center’s Fatherhood Initiative on Saturday, June 20, 2009 from 9:00 a.m. to noon at the Broadcast Street Café, 464 Franklin Avenue, Aliquippa.  The morning’s activities will include breakfast from 9:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.; a keynote speaker, Terrence Harrison, Coordinator of the Mercer County Father’s Network; and fellowship among men and women who are concerned about fathers who are absent or not involved in the lives of their children.  Children’s activities will be provided, so fathers, please bring your children with you.   

 

Afternoon activities, hosted by the Aliquippa Weed and Seed T.A.L.L. Team will promote healthy living.  Included will be lunch, fun and informative activities and giveaways of Giant Eagle and Kuhn’s gift cards for purchasing fruit and vegetables.
