Beaver County Police, Fire and EMTs will battle crust, sauce, cheese and each other to raise money for young local heroes.
Pizza Joe’s Sponsors the Inaugural HEROES4Heroes Pizza-Eating Contest to Support the Hero Program.
Beaver County’s Police, Fire Departments and emergency First-Responders are joining forces by entering into a friendly pizza-eating competition to raise money for the HERO program, a local charity supporting the needs of terminally ill children. The event, which is open to the public, will take place on Friday, July 29th at 6 PM at the Brady’s Run Lodge. Guests are encouraged to come and cheer on the competitors.
Sponsored by Pizza Joe’s, through their generous donation of all the pizza for the contest, the evening will also feature State Representative Jim Christiana, a committed supporter of the HERO program. On hand to battle it out by out-eating the competition, will be teams consisting of local police officers, fire-fighters, EMTs, and support staff from their respective departments.
Steve Wetzel, Executive Director of the Hero Program shares, “We are honored to have these local heroes who risk their lives for us daily come along side these children whose lives are also at risk every day.”
Individual members of each team will be asked to raise $100 from outside sponsors – the proceeds of which will be given directly to the HERO Program.
Established in 2009, The HERO Program was developed by Wetzel, after watching a student battle cancer and desiring to do more to help him. The organization currently supports seven (7) families and nine (9) children through providing basic needs and services such as, but not limited to, financial assistance, vehicles, medical hospital beds, mortgage/rent payments, gas, and food. Currently, there are 34 children on the waiting list for sponsorship in the HERO Program.
HEROES4Heroes will take place on Friday, July 29th at 6:00 at the Brady’s Run Lodge.
