Auberle Honors Weavertown Environmental Group

Weavertown Environmental Group Honored at Auberle’s 27th Annual All Star Banquet for Role in Developing Training Program

Weavertown Environmental Group (WEG) was honored by Auberle, a human service organization serving over 2,300 at-risk children and families, at Auberle’s 27th Annual All Star Banquet on April 17th.

WEG, the mid-Atlantic region’s premier provider of environmental services, along with WEG employee Troy Harris, Corporate Manager of Health and Safety, received the All Star Banquet Partner Award sponsored by Mylan. WEG and Harris are being recognized for their role in developing and instructing Auberle’s OSHA HAZWOPER (hazardous waste operations and emergency response) program.  The program operates through an exclusive relationship with WEG to train at-risk youth interested in environmental protection and remediation. Program participants stage a mock disaster and respond to a simulated tanker truck spill as part of the curriculum. WEG offers graduates who earn their OSHA HAZWOPER certification the opportunity to apply for employment with their company.

“The course opens them to a world of things,” said Troy Harris. “Once the kids got involved and started understanding how this training could help and benefit them, they were eager to be a part of it.”

WEG and Harris were honored alongside 50 at-risk Auberle children and families who have made outstanding achievements in education, citizenship, arts, athletics and numerous other areas. Three-hundred attendees including community members, foster families and elected officials will be in attendance.
