Amizade Seeking Youth Ambassador to Travel to South America

Apply now to be a youth ambassador and travel to Bolivia and Peru this summer!

Amizade is proud to announce the Youth Ambassadors Program with South America (YAPSA), a program of the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, administered by Amizade. YAPSA offers a unique opportunity for youth from Bolivia, Peru, West Virginia, and Western Pennsylvania to travel, stay with host families, learn about another culture, develop their leadership skills, and become empowered to make positive changes in their communities. YAPSA is free of cost for accepted participants.

YAPSA consists of two exchange programs that are each 3 weeks long: one for U.S. youth traveling to

Bolivia and Peru in summer 2015, and the other for South American youth traveling to Pittsburgh, West Virginia, and Washington D.C. in fall 2015. Both programs will consist of 10 students and 2 adult mentors. Students will develop leadership and social entrepreneurship skills, explore themes of environmental protection, and create a Community Action Project to implement in their home communities after the exchange.

Applications are available on Amizade’s website, at amizade.org/yapsa/. Amizade is seeking the following applicants:

High School students from Western P.A. and West Virginia

Adult mentors to accompany the U.S. students to Bolivia and Peru

Host families from Pittsburgh for the fall exchange

The application deadline for U.S. students and adult mentors is February 23, 2015.
