Amizade Celebrates Five Years of the Fair Trade Learning Engagement Model

Something incredible is happening. It has been nearly five years since we pioneered the innovative global engagement model known as Fair Trade Learning, and the movement is now exploding. As a part of these commitments, this year alone, Amizade has been proud to subsidize or provide scholarships for reciprocal service and learning opportunities for friends and partners from places like Bolivia, Brazil, Peru, Northern Ireland, Kenya, and the Hill District neighborhood of Pittsburgh. Over 100 young people who have traditionally only been hosts to international visitors – more than 10% of all of our participants this year – traveled the world with Amizade, building solidarity with a diverse set of communities, and returned to their home neighborhoods more empowered to make a positive change.

Unfortunately, ensuring that those from underserved communities have equal opportunity to engage in global learning requires a financial investment. We urge you to watch this powerful video to learn about our Fair Trade Learning partnership in the Hill District community of Pittsburgh and support Amizade’s commitment to using fair trade learning as a tool to improve communities.
