Aliquippa Prepares for 18th Annual Arts Festival

Excitement is growing for the 18th Annual Aliquippa Art and Music Festival, scheduled for Saturday, September 10th.  The Festival is expected to attract hundreds of people to downtown Franklin Avenue for fun activities, art, food and live music throughout the day.

A parade featuring local dignitaries, marching bands and other talent will kick off the Festival at 10 a.m traveling down Franklin Avenue from Kennedy Boulevard.   Dozens of organizations will be represented by vendor booths offering food (including a rib cook-off in the afternoon), crafts, children’s activities and more all along Franklin Avenue.

The Art Exhibition will showcase great art . Also this year we will be honoring our very own Townsell “ T-baby” Thomas as well as Aliquippa natives Janine Gilbert-Carter  and Robin Gant. The artwork will be available to the public on Thursday, September 8th from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. and during the festival on Saturday, September 10th in the Broadcast Street Café located at 464 Franklin Avenue, Aliquippa. Visitors to the gallery can cast a ballot for their favorite piece in the Aliquippa Choice Award.

The Art Festival offers the art exhibit, crafts, the parade, children’s activities, food vendors, a rib cook-off in the afternoon and a FREE concert. Entertainment begins at 11:00 a.m. on the main stage located in Towne Towers parking lot with popular local talent such as The Light of Judah, Christian Light House Choir,  Our Brother’s Keepers, Undalrds, Smooth Groove, The Flow Band and also welcoming the Rare Experience Reunion as the headliner.

Excitement is growing around this increasingly popular community event.  The Festival Committee looks forward to a great success in bringing together the people of Aliquippa and neighboring communities to highlight the arts and to showcase Aliquippa as a vibrant, resurging, economically and socially viable community.
