About

Our goal is to support the causes of local nonprofit organizations by providing platforms and assistance in developing a successful online presence.  Success in this area will raise awareness within the local communities about the great resources that nonprofit organizations provide.  By doing so, we hope to inspire community members to support these organizations through volunteerism and providing monetary and non-monetary support.

It’s been a difficult time for nonprofit organizations lately.  Funds  have been reduced, donations have diminished and, at the same time, the needs of the community are increasing.  That is why it is even more important that we become a community of nonprofit organizations that work together in order to learn, share and grow.

Collaborating is not always easy, but the rewards will make the effort worthwhile.

Social media falls into that same category.  The time it takes to participate can be difficult to find, but the impact that is achieved from the relationships that develop outweigh the negatives.

My vision for Together We Flourish is to:

  • Provide a collaborative site for nonprofit organizations to share information their vision with the community.
  • Inspire the members of the community to support these organizations by volunteering and providing monetary and non-monetary support.
  • Provide consultation services to organizations looking to build a social media presence.
  • Educate with information on best practices when developing a social media campaign.
  • Increase community awareness with information about services that are available.

Please join me in this project.  Help me help you become a community of organizations that is strong in its intent and ability to serve.

Together we all can truly FLOURISH!

Hi, Susan. Good questions. I am involved in nonprofits in a number of ways. I’m on the board of The Arizona Center for Disability Law, a 501(c)(3) dedicated to ending discrimination and carving out access to education, health care and other services for nearly 1 million Arizonans with disabilities.

Like many other nonprofits, we’re talking about a big vision, but a smaller budget than we’d prefer. That said, it’s truly a dynamic organization that is highly professional in nature. http://www.azdisabilitylaw.org

On another level, I’m webmaster for three nonprofits dedicated to supporting the needs of adults and children with disabilities. The needs are so powerful, and as always, funding is always a concern.

On yet another level, I own and operate a home-based business, and have formed a think tank of people committed to helping and encouraging each other to follow their dreams.

We have one member who is highly experienced in the field of domestic violence, and she helps others start up their 501(c)(3) organizations. It appear that she would be wise to become a professional consultant to such organizations, as her knowledge of organization, strategy, funding, planning, training, dividing lines between staff, boards and councils, is extensive.

We have another member who is going to start a 501(c)(3), and we as a group are giving her ideas to help make the organization solid and successful. In addition to the person with a strong knowledge of nonprofits are several others (including me) who have knowledge of marketing, social networking, property management, small business management, and Web development.

It appears that many people who have started nonprofits don’t have a clue about organization, staff vs board, programs, accountability, etc. They are all people who started out with a clear vision. They had fire in their bellies. But now many of them need to move to the next level.

How can you help? I don’t know, however it appears that you are the right person at the right time and place to help make a difference. In so doing, many more people who are part of the vision of nonprofit founders will have their lives changed. For the better.

Hi Susan,

I’m impressed with the work you are doing in the Pittsburgh area and envision the time when groups and people of good will are connecting and working together for the betterment of all of our communities –and ultimately the whole world. I love the expression, “Think Globally and act locally”.

Keep up the good works.
