Volunteering Has Special Meaning Around the Holidays

Everyone is busy around the holidays, but it is an especially difficult time for the clients of organizations like North Hills Community Outreach.   That is what makes it such a great time to give a little of yourself.  Do you have time to give a helping hand?

North Hills Community Outreach (NHCO) offers the following holiday volunteer opportunities, ideal for groups from congregations, civic organizations, schools and businesses.

  • Volunteer bellringers are needed at Shoppers’ Choice in Hampton for two-hour shifts, Fridays and Saturdays, November 20-December 20. Contact Susan Rohm at 412-487-6316, option 1, x3120.
  • Volunteer gift wrappers are needed at The Shoppes at Northway Mall to benefit the food pantries of the North Hills. For more information or to sign up, call Reuven Dashevsky at 412-487-6316, option 2, x3208.

 

North Hills Community Outreach (NHCO) will also hold the following volunteer orientation and training sessions:

  • A general orientation session for prospective volunteers ages 14 and up will take place on November 5, 10:00 AM, at NHCO Millvale, 416 Lincoln Ave. RSVP to Reuven at 412-487-6316, option 2, x3208.
  • Faith in Action volunteer caregiver training for those interested in helping older adults with transportation, friendly visits, light errands: November 16, 9:30 AM, NHCO Allison Park, 1975 Ferguson Rd.   • Free Rides for Seniors volunteer training for shuttle bus drivers and onboard dispatchers: November 16, 10 AM and November 18, 6:30 PM, both at Lighthouse Pointe, 500 Chapel Harbor Drive, O’Hara. Contact Kerry at 412-449-0151.
