Organizations collaborating to empower change in people’s lives can be a very effective way to make a difference. Please consider your options to find opportunities to work with other organizations in ways that will enhance the effectiveness of your missions. Here is an example of the good that can result from collaborating.
Carlow University’s New Choices program in partnership with Treasure House Fashions held their second annual series Girl’s Night Outs. The event, held on November 17th and December 14th, brought New Choices students from the greater Pittsburgh area together at the Treasure House Fashions shop for an evening of hors d’oeuvres and complimentary shopping for interview and work clothing.
The New Choices program assists single parents and displaced homemakers with developing work and life skills in the pursuit of self-sufficiency. Courses include: career development, communications, math, English, college preparation and software training. These courses are offered free of charge.
Treasure House Fashions believes that outward appearance is not an accurate reflection of your worth, but it can affirm the treasure that you truly are!! The mission of this nonprofit organization is promoting the dignity and self-esteem of women, particularly women in crisis, by providing gently-worn quality clothing. In cooperation with various local agencies, they distribute gift certificates for clothing at their shop to women who have been abused, are re-entering the job market, and/or are experiencing financial crisis.
Do you have an idea on how your organization could partner with another to increase effectiveness? Please share your story.
