The characters Jasmine, Aladdin and the Genie come to life in “Disney’s Aladdin Kids” Oct. 1 at the Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center.
This stage adaptation of the Disney film features hit songs including “Friend Like Me,” “Prince Ali,” and “A Whole New World.” Young audiences will experience adventure, romance and excitement as a poor youth from the streets of Agrabah falls in love with a princess and battles the evil Jafar for possession of a powerful magic lamp.
Three performances, at 11 a.m. and 1 and 3 p.m., are planned for Saturday, Oct. 1, in Lincoln Park’s studio theater. Tickets are $8. Tickets may be purchased online at www.lppac.org, in person at the Lincoln Park box office, or by phone, 724.643.9004.
Those playing the parts of Aladdin, Jasmine and other characters will be available directly following each show to meet children and pose for pictures.
“Disney’s Aladdin Kids” is a production of the award-winning Jeter Backyard Theater of Gibsonia, Pa., a regional theater company for young people. The Jeter Backyard Theater produces eight shows a year at the Kean Theater in Gibsonia, Pa.
Director and founder Christie Jeter was one of eight educational theater directors nationwide selected as 2010 winners of Broadway’s Freddie G Director’s Award. The Jeter Backyard Theater won the Best Production Award at the 2011 Junior Theater Festival in Atlanta, Ga.
“Disney’s Aladdin Kids” is adapted from the 1992 animated film with music by Alan Menken and lyrics by Howard Ashman and Tim Rice.
